Welcome
This is the BBE-Tech BeeWiki.
The objective of this Wiki is to provide a technical, user manual style approach to providing answers to common and some not-so-common questions about beekeeping. Having been started December 3, 2009, we have a lot to add and fill in. We would be glad to welcome others from the beekeeping world to work with us to make this Wiki more complete as we go along.
This Wiki has no intention on being an authoritative manual, but simply a collection of beekeeping knowledge and wisdom from the beekeeping world.
If nothing else, this will be a technical manual for bee technicians working with BBE-Tech Apiary to work with and contribute to.
Not only that, this Wiki will also hold all the observations and inspection documentation for all the colonies in our bee yards, especially the new main yard graciously sponsored by and located at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center in Bellevue, NE.
Beekeeping License
A beekeeping license? Yes. You ask what on earth are we talking about, I'm sure.
Offering a beekeeping license does two things for us at BBE-Tech: Honey Bee Conservation.
1) It let's us have some fun. As a "license" it's only recognized by us and others who choose to recognize it because they see BBE-Tech: Honey Bee Conservation as a trustworthy entity.
2) It allows us to offer some creative expandability to ones pursuits.
Please go to the Beekeeping License page to learn more about this fun and interesting way to promote healthy beekeeping.
The "Cheat Sheet"
As it is our goal to provide a reference that facilitates finding useful information in as direct manner as possible, you will find many of the items listed or discussed in the Cheat Sheet contain links to other resources, such as Wikipedia, to provide more in-depth information for the honey bee researcher.

Documentation
With great thanks to Fontenelle Forest, BBE-Tech has been able to establish a conservation yard on their Bellevue location. This bee yard will allow us to relocate honey bees that have been removed from residences nad other properties and allowing them to rebuild their hive and health in a protected location as opposed to being poisoned or otherwise killed. With much gratitude, we have a pdf version of their letter of permission here.
The following links will take you to a listing of every colony/hive that is on either our primary yard or in one of our outyards.
Each hive listed on those pages will be a link to another page dedicated to listing PDF files of inspections and observations specific to each colony/hive.
Here is the BBE-Tech Apiary Inspection form and the BBE-Tech Apiary Hive Observations Form, please feel free to download and print the forms as you need. All BBE-Tech activity must be documented on these forms.
The forms are filled out, per hive and turned in to Big Bear who scans the forms to PDF format and they will then be stored online on their own hive page for everyone to see.
We will be using "At the Hive Entrance" by H Storch as a field guide to minimize actual physical intrusions into the hives. Limited copies will be on hand for use at the beeyard. Community beekeepers are encouraged to obtain a copy of this very helpful book.
Due to the ability to comment freely and add photos and video to the inspection reports, all BBE-Tech observations and inspections will be done online at the documentation section of the BBE-Tech Rebels Bee Club forum. You will find weekly inspections and/or observations maintained regularly.
