Live Bee Removal

Due to the heavy media coverage of Colony Collapse Disorder, many people have adopted the notion that bee removal in any form should be “free” because the beekeeper or conservationist is getting “free” bees.  This couldn’t be farther from the truth.  There is a lot of labor and risk involved in working with live bees.  It takes long, careful hours and tremendous attention to details in order to successfully remove and relocate a honey bee colony.

Please keep in mind the service that beekeepers are providing in terms of giving you a safe home or workplace and that all too often, the bees that we try so hard to rescue, do not survive the great amount of stress and damage caused to the nest and colony along the way.

Swarms

If you have a swarm that has landed on your property, we will be glad to come and remove it at a low cost.  A swarm is the natural process of honey bees to reproduce the colony.  They gorge on honey before they leave the old nest and land somewhere close by to allow scout bees to look for a new home.

Established Nest

If you have a colony of honey bees living within a wall or inside a cavity in a building, we can come and remove the bees and the comb (for relocation, if they are still alive) and properly clean out the space to minimize the possibility of bees seeking that spot as a home again, based on the scent of a previous hive.

The wax comb, honey and bees must be removed carefully as just leaving wax comb and honey in a cavity could very often end up in damage to the house or building when the wax melts without live bees to regulate temperature.

We are not carpenters, you must arrange for a handyman or contractor to handle the related carpentry, drywall, etc… work of closing up the area.

Bumble Bees

We also do live removals of bumble bee nests.  Sometimes bumble bees place their nests in public access areas and this can lead to stinging incidents.  Especially when the nest is in a high traffic area.

Yellow Jacket/Wasp Removal

We also do removals and eliminations of Yellow Jackets and Wasps.  Our methods do not always introduce poisons or pesticides into the environment and depending on the situation, our methods can control Yellow Jacket and Wasp activity immediately with permanent results from immediately to one week.

In most cases, clients will see dramatic reduction or elimination of the yellow jackets or wasps in under 48 hours.

Beeyard IPM Services

Beekeeping in the state of Nebraska is currently de-regulated.  This means, among many things, that there are no state inspectors to assist beekeepers in identifying health or pest problems in their hives.

Many learn about IPM as they go, taking a class from the local county extension office or maybe from an online webinar.

However a great many, especially new beekeepers, do not feel they are prepared or informed enough to properly inspect or  apply pest control methods, especially chemical pesticides, without more experience.

For those people who would prefer that a state licensed pesticide applicator and properly trained pest management professional help with their bee yard pest control methods, BBE-Tech is your ally.

We are bee conservationists ourselves and fully understand and appreciate the desire to protect bees. To keep them alive while doing as little to no harm to them while we do that.

We are able to advise and consult area beekeepers on Integrated Pest Management methods and perform the treatments applications and followup monitoring as well.

Big Bear the “Bee Doctor” is in the house.

We offer “Bee Doctor House call”services in the Omaha/Metro area ranging from providing comprehensive hive inspections, providing lessons and assistance in learning methods, techniques and using various equipment.

All the while, we understand that these are your hives and while we are more than glad to offer suggestions and advice, we will always defer to your, the owner of the hives, decisions.
